HOT PURSUIT
VOL 2 EPISODE 6

"HOW do you know my FIRST NAME?” Cathy says anger in her voice fumbling to pull her gun from the holster while pinning Corona to the ground.
Corona stammers "Its on your uniform. Get off me before this fire really gets out of control!”
"My FIRST name is NOT on the uniform. It's "C". And YOU'RE the one CONTROLLING the fire.” Cathy continues to struggle with Corona.
"I'm the one trying to put them out!” Corona grunts out trying to resist her.
"Yea, right!” Cathy argues back.
Corona mumbles under his breath "You haven't changed one damn bit, hot head!!”

"Guys, I need backup!” Cathy call out to her fellow officers.
Corona hears the patter of additional feet running toward you across the asphalt.
Corona Distracted by the approach of other officers, she managed to grab his arm, and twists it behind his back pinning him to the ground.
The other cops are now nearby. Although he can't see them, he hears them shouting " FREEZE! GIVE IT UP CORONA! IT'S OVER"
…...............................................................................................…...............................................................

Strike races into the inferno. The restaurant lobby is a fireball of intense heat that would boil a NORMAL guy alive! Fortunately, Strike isn't normal! He's a MUTANT. An one of his superhuman powers is skin that can resist MOST kinds and damage. In fact, he hasn't come across nothing yet that could hurt him.

Too bad this BUILDING ain't as durable as he is! The brick wall that was painted with colorful scenes of ancient China, is now charred black. It reeks of charcoal and ash the flames are blinding. His eyes sting and its hard to breath with the smoke. To the right is the restaurant. To the left, commercial carpet meets yellow and white linoleum tiles, where a stairway rises to the next floor. Despite being in the middle of the fireball, Strike somehow manages to avoid catchin' fire.

The flames have moved up to the second floor. Strike hurries and runs up the stairs as he yells out, "HELLO!!!! IS ANYONE IN HERE?!?!?"
On the second floor, he catches a whiff of another odor, mingled with the ashen smoke. Its an overwhelming muddled, milky, bready scent that you're not able to identify. Flames pop and fizzle as they greedily devour the hallways sheet rock. The corridor is lit by the flickering orange/yellow light as floating clouds of soot spread throughout the second floor. 3 bronze sconces, shape like dragons, hang from the wall to the left, twisted and bubbling under the heat.
But, impossibly, the wall further down, is untouched by fire, as if somethin is holdin it back! The blaze seems to be strugglin against an invisible force that keeps them from goin further than they already have!
Strike thinks "Whatever is holding the fire back, perhaps it is protecting the child.” He hurries down th hall towards this force, calling out as he does. When he reaches the "edge" of the flames, he don't actually see anything, but it looks like the flames are struggling to spread. He also notices something odd. The flames end... and even as he stand there, they seem to be receding somewhat. Standing at the end of the flames he notices also that the untouched parts of the wall reveal brownish stains.  It's lookin' like the walls been splashed all over with some kind of liquid. And here where the air is less smoky, that muddled milky scent is even stronger. Examining the stains closer he now recognizes it as WHISKEY.
Strike stands still calling out but still don't see anyone.  Strike grumbles to himself.... ARSON!  Strike enters the door that is to his left. It open into an apartment. Strike looks around but don't see or hear her and begins a search of the apartment. Strike still calling out all along the way.  "Hello?!?!  ANYONE HERE?!  YOUR MOTHER SENT ME TO HELP YOU!"

Strike moves deeper into the apartment. Searching the tiny bathroom he calls "Hello?  If you are in here... please come out.. we need to get you to your mother." No response and heads to the bedroom. Suddenly there is a rushing sound like a strong wind or something accompanied by a crackling sound from the hallway. Strike moves to check it out, as he opens the apartment door he is met by a wall of flame moving swiftly down the hallway whatever was holding it back before, doesn't seem to be holding it back anymore! The fire rages uncontrollably inside the second floor corridor!
In the distance, he makes out a faint sound over the roar of the flames... it's the high pitched alarm of advancing sirens.
Strike relying on his power to get him through unharmed, jumps into the hallway and rushes toward the  end of the hall to get to the door he passed on his way up. Strike kicks the door in easily. Waving hand in front of face, trying to not cough... "Hello...?  Is anyone here?!?!?" the apartment looks like the same setup he was just in. Frantically searching the living room, bathroom, and kitchen he suddenly hears a muffled cough. "Only one place I didn't check yet, the bedroom.” Rushing to it he finds the door closed and locked. Strike knocks rapidly on the door, "If you are in there, I am coming in... stand away from the door!  I have to come in to get you out of here!"  He then pauses for a five count and then use his shoulder to burst through the door as easily as a rhino runs through a glass window. As it cracks open he thinks he hears a quick childish scream. Once in there, his eyes desperately cast around, looking for the child.  He tries speaking in a reassuring voice, "I will not hurt you... but we must get out of here... your mother misses you."
The sirens are getting louder as they get closer.
Strike starts looking around in places a child would hide, in the 2 closets in the room in a trunk at the foot of the bed when he notice the flames coming in through the bedroom door he has left open. Strike sounds desperate, "Please... we have to go to your mommy.. now... we don't want you to get hurt...."
Suddenly a high pitched scream is heard from under the bed.  Strike berates himself "Of course! Why didn't you think of it BEFORE?! She's a lil CHIL'! She's hiding under the BED!” Suddenly she starts to cough... as he notices more and more smoke are getting under the bed.
Strike moves to the bed and just lifts it off the child, tossing to to the side.  He scoops the child up protectively into his arms and moves to get out of there.

In between hacking on the smoke she tries to scream and kick.. "NO! NO!” She's screaming something but not sure what she's sayin'... Sounds like something about that bad Dragon Man."
Strike simply smiles at the child, "I will protect you."  Trying to literally ooze out sincerity.
Strike protects the child as much as he can and move towards the fire escape.

As he races through the flames careful to protect the girl... she's stopped coughing, but is still screaming and trying to wriggle from his grip.. "NO NO! PLEASE... DON'T TAKE ME TO THE BAD DRAGON MAN! I WANT MY MOMMY!”
Strike tucks his head close to the girl before speaking, "We are going to your mommy... I promise."

Strike races to the fire escape and briefly looks out the window before protecting the little girl and smashing it by leaping through to land heroically on the ground in front of firemen, police and bystanders. Everyone pauses for a second to look at Strike and he hears things like:"Who's THAT?" "Look he SAVED a little GIRL!" "He must be a SUPER HERO!" "YOU ROCK DUDE”
The girl's screams have lowered into a sad, whimper. Strike will smile slightly at the people then say to the little girl, "Let's go to your mommy..."  Then he heads around to the front to find her mother.

…..................................................................................................................................................................

Corona states "Cathy you are assuming I started this fire, let me prove to you and everyone else that I'm NOT the villain I'm made out to be. Children could be trapped in there I am the only chance they have.”
"There's NO way I'm going to DO that. You're a DANGEROUS MUTANT WANTED for questioning, and you're a THREAT to MY country.” Cathy responds back to Corona. "And you STILL haven't explained how you KNOW my first name!”
"Cathy I don't want to hurt you but I must put those fires out before someone is seriously hurt.”
